Today's as good a day as any to appreciate how far you've come.
We took this photo the day we got the keys. February 22, 2020. We propped my phone in the drain pipe that was poking up through the middle of the floor and gave ourselves 10 seconds to run to the windows and jump. We were so excited to start this journey that we had immediately began putting plastic down on the floor so we could start priming the walls.
We were just two girls on a sugar high from celebratory Queen Bee cupcakes, full of excitement and ideas about how we were actually going to do it. We were actually going to open our little pink shop. I hadn't yet put in my two weeks (I think I did the following Monday), the world hadn't yet stopped turning. There were still pop-up markets on the calendar, there were still live concerts and no one even considered putting on a mask to go grocery shopping.
We had no idea what was coming. We had no idea the challenges we were about to face. We also had no idea the shear joy we were about to experience. We had no idea we would have a front row seat to amazing creatives overcoming the challenges, as well as a community eager to welcome us in and support us however they could. We had no idea we would have interactions with customers that would leave us speechless and crying in our car when we were finally alone.
We were just two girls with big ideas, and just enough naivete and guts to give it a shot. We picked a direction and for better or worse, figured it out as we ran as fast as we could. There's not a day that goes by that I don't stop in amazement as I see how far we've come. We've still got a long way to go, but from here, the view is pretty spectacular.
Wherever you are, whatever it is you're doing, I hope that you take a minute to look back at how far you've come. At all the things you used to wish for and realize, you did it. Or you're at least a lot closer than you were. Just know, you've got two girls over here rooting for you.
